We are delighted to announce that after months of the End Summer Hunger campaign, enough funds have been raised by our awesome community to run the Picnic in the Park free summer lunch program for children! The Foodbank now serves more than 600 meals a day to kids from Carpinteria to Santa Maria.
There are no income requirements, meaning no child will be turned away. The program will continue from Monday to Friday every week this summer for students from any background to come enjoy a free meal. For the locations and times of Picnics in the Park, click here
The Foodbank usually helps subsidize school lunches for students during the year, making food either free or discounted. But when school lets out of the summer, thousands of students are left without this option. We are so excited that this program was able to reach its full potential and continue to feed young students.
