My Blackberry is my best friend. It is practically glued to my hand. I never leave the house without it, it rests next to me on the table during all my meals, and ever so nicely wakes me up in the morning to the sound of Jason Mraz’s, “I’m Yours.” If you had asked me ten years ago if I thought I would be more dependent on a little handheld device than I am to my parents or best friends, I would have thought you were crazy. The concept of being completely and totally attached to a wireless phone was not something that most people would have predicted. Although the “main” purpose of a cell phone is to make phone calls, I personally think that phone calls only account for about 40% of my phone usage. Most of the time I am texting, Facebooking, Googling, or listening to music. The evolution of the cell phone has exceeded all expectations and the influence it has on teen life today is extraordinary. Mobile advertising companies have caught onto this phenomenon and are using it to their full advantage, trying to catch the attention of their consumers. But, the question is, are their advertisements targeting the correct crowd?

Feel free to check out our latest project, Iration’s new website: IrationMusic.com.
Lots of social media integration going on here - music fed in from SoundCloud, tour dates brought in by Bands In Town, Blogs pulled from Tumblr, and a Facebook commenting system. Another fun feature - the background changes from “daytime beach scene” to “evening beach scene” depending on the time of day. Check it out:
We recently launched a site for the Music Preservation Project. Music Preservation Project is working to preserve endangered music collections by digitizing them, developing curriculum for educators, using the collections and allowing free access for educational purposes.
The first couple collections being preserved include: Bob Marley / Reggae Archives, David Lewiston Collection of spiritual music all around the world, and the Ali Khan Nusrat archive.
You can watch an intro video and learn more at musicpreservationproject.org.

William Duvall, lead singer of Alice in Chains, approached Oniracom for a custom blog site to host his personal thoughts and day-to-day happenings. We skinned his Tumblr blog with a custom background image, social navigation, and a Topspin widget in the header of the page. Our design compliments the intuitive functionality built into Tumblr, and this option eliminates any needs to learn a content management system. We also created and branded William’s social networks as a foundation for his future brand health.

Read More… Post CommentOut on the Road, Santa Barbara’s Howlin’ Woods Gets a Taste of Glory with a Side of Humble Pie
In the several months before I moved out of Santa Barbara last October, a band emerged on the scene to reignite my hope for the rebirth of the local musical landscape. Not since Matthew McAvene teased me with a few smoking sets in early 2007 had I felt the spark of any new, home-bred talent. All it took was one performance by Howlin’ Woods on a Friday night at Cold Spring Tavern to convince me that these guys had the goods. They could jam fiercely, led by the sinewy guitar voodoo of Griffin Chetakian. The rhythm section of Matthew Farrington on drums and Brian “Solar B” Chandler on bass (and keys) was rugged and raw, yet with an intuitive grace. A lot of bands can jam. These guys came across as the total package thanks to the presence of a true frontman. Jordan Chetakian – a powerhouse vocalist with some acoustic guitar chops to boot, boasted a dynamic range. He could rain down with the back-alley blues, bust out a little Sly Stone soul and woo the ladies like a tormented indie rock icon. Offstage he was just an unassuming, plaid-shirt wearing dude with glasses which made his spotlight transformation all the more profound.
